Carson Valley's First Craft-Roaster Drive-Thru

Most mornings in the Carson Valley start in a car. School drop-off in Gardnerville, a commute up to Carson City, a long drive over the hill to the lake or down 395 toward the next job site. The day is already moving before you are fully awake.
Our Minden drive-thru was built for that morning. It is the same coffee we roast in Reno and pour in our cafes, handed through a window, made with care, and ready in the time it takes to get back on the highway.
Opening Day
We opened the window on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and every drink was on us, all day. It felt like the right way to introduce ourselves to a town we are new to: not with a discount code, but with a cup in your hand and a chance to meet the people making it.
Thank you to everyone who waited in line, rolled down a window, and said hello. Free coffee was for opening day only, and regular pricing is in place now. What carries forward is the care, and we hope to see you again soon.
Why a Drive-Thru
The Minden site is drive-thru only, with no indoor seating. It was designed for the daily traffic along Highway 395, where a stop for coffee is measured in minutes rather than in an afternoon spent at a table.
“We've been roasting for the Carson Valley from a distance for a long time, and Minden felt like the right place to finally be closer. A lot of people here start their day on 395, and until now there hasn't been a drive-thru in the valley run by a roaster, where the person handing you the cup knows where the coffee came from and who roasted it. Free coffee on the first day is our way of introducing ourselves: taste it first, and let the coffee do the talking,” said Chris Garrison, owner of Old World Coffee Roasters.
What a Craft Roaster Brings to the Window
Every coffee we serve in Minden is roasted at our roastery on Las Brisas Boulevard in Reno. We choose each coffee, roast it in small batches, and dial it in for espresso and drip so it tastes the way it should, cup after cup. That consistency is the whole point. Your Tuesday latte should taste like your Saturday latte.
It starts long before the roaster. We buy from farmers and sourcing partners we know, including Loma La Gloria in El Salvador, Las Nubes in Colombia, and Finca Escénica and Bridazul in Nicaragua. Our owner, Chris Garrison, has visited some of the farms and mills behind those coffees. Those relationships are why we can tell you where your cup came from, and why the people who grew it matter to us.
Specialty coffee should not require a trip to the city. It should be on your way.
What You Will Find on the Menu
The Minden menu carries the drinks our regulars already know: espresso drinks made with our house espresso, freshly brewed drip coffee, and tea, along with seasonal drinks as they rotate through. If you are not sure what to order, ask. The person at the window is happy to help you find something you will like, whether that is a simple drip coffee or something a little sweeter for the drive.
Want the same coffee at home? Bags of our roasted coffee are available on our online shop, roasted in Reno and shipped to your door.
Hospitality, One Window at a Time
A drive-thru is a small exchange, maybe a minute long. We think that minute counts. A familiar face, your name remembered, an order made right the first time. Those small things are what turn a coffee stop into part of your routine.
We are a family-owned Northern Nevada business, and we are glad to be part of the Carson Valley. We look forward to learning your order.
